JOB DESCRIPTION
BUS DRIVER
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid school bus license with appropriate endorsements
- Must have on-going First-aid CPR training
PAY: $27.06/HR
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to make sound judgments
- Must pass yearly DOT physical examination
- Must pass alcohol and drug tests
- Adequate body strength and full range of arms and legs to operate all mechanical equipment
- Such additional health and age requirements as the School Committee may require
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
JOB GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest
possible advantages from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obeys all traffic laws.
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Adheres to all state laws and School Board policies governing the operation of school buses.
- Does pre-trip inspections each day and gives completed forms to the Trip/Route Coordinator at the end of each week.
- Enforces all school bus rules and regulations.
- Transports only authorized students.
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
- Reports discipline problems to the school office and fills out appropriate incident reports.
- Adheres to assigned schedule and route.
- Discharges students only at appropriate authorized stops.
- Transports students to and from extracurricular activities as designated by the Trip/Route Coordinator
- Exercises responsible leadership when on school trips.
- Maintains a clean bus inside and outside.
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
- Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness
- Attends workshops and training pertaining to transportation.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Trip/Route Coordinator or Director of Operations.

- Maintains confidentiality about all aspects of student performance and written and oral records.
- Demonstrates a respect for the legal and human rights of students.
- Follows health and safety procedures established by the district.
- Arrives and departs punctually, notifying appropriate personnel about absences and coverage.
- Demonstrates dependability, integrity, and other ethical standards.
