Class 1 driver - Nights

Job Title:                     LGV 1 Driver (Class 1) – Nights

Location:                    The position will be primarily based at our National Sortation Centre in Cannock, with occasional support required at our Essington site as needed.

Job Summary:           To drive Company vehicles as and when required including shunting around and between sites, and to be flexible to perform other transport related duties as required

Responsible to:         Transport Managers       

Skills/Knowledge and Experience:

• HGV Class 1 licence
• Excellent communication skills
• Good time management skills 
• Health and safety awareness
• Previous parcel industry experience
• Knowledge of driving laws and working time regulations
• Geographical knowledge
• 1 years’ driving experience

Main Responsibilities:

The main areas of responsibility and expectations for this role are as detailed below:

• Drive and complete collections from depot addresses and/or Customer locations
• Interact professionally with customers during collections and deliveries, addressing any concerns or issues promptly and courteously.
• Ensure that any driving hours and rest periods comply with legal requirements to prevent fatigue and maintain safety on the road.
• Ensure compliance with all transport and traffic laws, regulations, and company policies, particularly regarding LGV operations, to maintain safety standards during night shifts.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any faults or defects to the management team
• Shunting vehicles around the premises and between sites
• Keep any vehicle’s clean and presentable, both inside and out, to uphold the company’s image and ensure comfort and safety during operations.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Transport team and dispatchers regarding delivery status, any issues encountered, or delays in the schedule.
• Any other duties that the position may require

Performance Standards:

You will be expected to complete your duties in a professional manner and to a high level.

Hours of Work:

You will be required to work 50 hours per week.
