As a Yard Operative / Van Driver / Counter Sales Assistant, you’ll be involved in multiple areas of the branch — from preparing and delivering orders to advising customers at the trade counter. You’ll be a key part of our team, providing top-level service to local tradespeople and DIY customers.
Yard Duties:
Pick and prepare materials for customer orders
Load/unload supplier and customer vehicles
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe yard
Check incoming stock deliveries
Van Driving Duties:
Deliver building materials to local customer sites
Ensure vehicle safety checks are carried out daily
Secure and protect loads during transport
Represent Buildit professionally on the road and at sites
Trade Counter Duties:
Serve customers and process sales using tills
Offer product advice and support
Upsell products and current promotions
Keep the trade counter clean, tidy, and well-stocked
Previous experience in builders merchants or a similar environment (preferred)
Full UK driving licence (essential)
Forklift licence (preferred, but training can be provided)
Basic computer and till operation skills
Good product knowledge of building materials (desirable)
Strong communication and customer service skills
Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks
Reliable, punctual, and a team player
Hours
Week: Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
Week:2 Monday to Friday 07:30-17:00 Saturday 08:00-12:00
